Pensieve respects you, your privacy, and your data. Here’s an overview of what we do, and don’t do, with the data and information you provide.
Where Your Data Goes
When you use Pensieve, the content (text, audio recordings, photos, and other attachments) that you give to Pensieve to turn into emails goes from your phone, to the Pensieve server, to your inbox, like this: 📱 phone → ⚙️ server → 📥 inbox
The only places where the content of your emails are saved are:
- On your phone in the Pensieve Sent messages folder, if you have that feature enabled.
- In your email inbox.
And you’re in control of both of those places:
- Don’t want Pensieve to save local copies of your emails? Go to Main Menu > Settings > Save Sent Emails and turn that feature off. You can also go to Main Menu > Sent > (…) and choose Clear Sent to delete all of the saved emails already there.
- Don’t want the emails in your inbox that you sent to yourself using Pensieve. Delete them!
Your data is only stored on the Pensieve server temporarily, just long enough for Pensieve to build an email and send it to you. After that poof your data is gone from the Pensieve server.
What Pensieve Does With Your Data
- ✅ Save draft emails on your device so you can send them later.
- ✅ Save sent emails on your device so you can review them or resend them later. (You can turn this off.)
- ✅ Save attachments on your device (with your draft and sent emails) so you can send them later, or review and resent them later.
- ✅ Send data you provide (text, audio recordings, photos, and other attachments) to the Pensieve servers in order to build and send you an email.
- ✅ Discard all of the data you provide after sending an email to you.
What Pensieve Doesn’t Do With Your Data
- 🚫 Use it to show or sell ads.
- 🚫 Save it on a server or in the cloud.
